You may remember that in some previous blog posts, I mentioned that Ben and I have moved out of my parents’ house and into a lovely apartment near the city. Now, for the most part, the apartment has been assembled and decorated, so I thought I would share some pictures of our humble abode. I’ve left out our bedroom, as it is not yet complete, but the other spaces are represented.
The vast majority of the decor came from things we both already owned. Our furniture came from three affordable sources; it was thrifted, bought used directly through online platforms, or we bought and assembled it ourselves. Unpacking and decorating was not the difficult part; in fact, it was fun to figure out where things should go.
The hardest part of moving in together was cutting down on our possessions. We had both gotten rid of many of our belongings before packing them away, but found that once we moved into a just-under 700-square foot space together, we still owned too many things. We filled multiple boxes with donations, which we took to Goodwill, and almost innumerable trash bags full of things that were broken and/or no longer useful, which we walked straight to the dumpster.
All in all, I love our little nest. I’m proud of what we’ve cultivated. Without further ado, here are some pictures of some of the details around our humble abode – hope you like it as much as we do!
