What I’ve Been Reading Lately

Well, it has been awhile, hasn’t it? I’ve been up to a few things, mostly school and reading. I’ve been trying to focus on school, but I’ve also been reading voraciously. In the past month I’ve finished so many books that I’d started in the last year and never finished. This month’s include Under the Tuscan Sun, The Velveteen Daughter, Tuesday Nights in 1980, Once Upon a River, Tony’s Wife, Someday, Someday, Maybe, and  I also began and finished The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Right now I’m working on Bittersweet by Miranda Beverly-Whittemore and City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert.

With my meds it’s been so much easier to focus on reading than it has been for a long time. I used to hyperfixate on books, get so immersed that I’d forget time, space, place, and sound as I read. I saw, heard, felt nothing but the book and its happenings. I devoured books then; I read the last Harry Potter book in a matter of hours.

It’s been wonderful, being able to read for more than a few paragraphs at a time again. I had missed reading dreadfully, and to be frank my to-be-read list (and pile!) is completely out of hand. If I’m being completely honest, I have three TBR piles by my bed. Some of the books I haven’t begun yet at all, and some I have, but have abandoned for others. If you want a post on my TBR list/pile, please don’t hesitate to let me know!

I’ve been journaling almost daily, as well. Clearly that action has not been helping any of my other writing, though. Not only have I not been blogging, I also haven’t broken any new ground on my main novel project. It has just under 13,000 words so far, which is not a terrible word count, but it could be doing better given how long I’ve been working on it (at this point, a year or two).

I have plenty of ideas for upcoming posts. The only thing is to do the research and to sit and write them. Let me know if there’s anything in particular you want to see!
